Allied health assistants work under the direct supervision of allied health care professionals (such as occupational therapists and physiotherapists) to provide therapeutic and program-related support. Demand for allied health assistants is strong.
Melbourne Polytechnic’s Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance HLT43021 is ideal for those who with no experience in allied health or for those who have completed the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance. This allied health course offers dedicated, fully-equipped spaces to learn new techniques and improve existing skills under the supervision of industry-qualified, experienced teaching staff. You will undertake a supervised health sector work placement, with a minimum 120 hours, for real-world experience before you graduate.
On completing the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance HLT43021, you may find work as a therapy assistant or an allied health assistant in a variety of interesting and rewarding fields. This is a career path that provides a range of options and allows you to pursue what you’re truly passionate about. An allied health assistant may find employment in a specialty area or work generically across an organisation in the delivery of allied health assistance services. Your placement will give you the experience and connections to pursue a role in the industry and kick start your career in allied health.

The Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative will pay your tuition fees for only one course. Once you have commenced in a tuition-free priority course, you are not eligible for further tuition-free places again, even if you do not finish your first tuition-free priority course.
