With the Victorian Building Authority recently highlighting the importance of qualified building surveyors in domestic and commercial builds, there’s never been a better time to get qualified.
Our industry-based teachers bring practical knowledge and hands-on experience to your training. You’ll learn essential surveying skills for residential and commercial buildings not more than 2000m2 and up to three storeys, including planning and building applications, researching and evaluating construction methods, conducting and reporting on inspections, and advising on performance-based building solutions. Industry connections and resources will help to create a solid foundation for an advancing career and you’ll join Melbourne Polytechnic’s community of award-winning tradies with a national reputation. You’ll learn real-world skills in real-world contexts and graduate with the skills needed to enter the urban infrastructure industry as a building surveyor.
This course will equip you to work as a qualified, dedicated building surveying professional.
On successful completion of this course you may seek entry into a building surveying or building and construction-oriented degree offered by universities.
Full-time is delivered as on-campus, interactive learning in a face-to-face environment. Classes will be held at a Melbourne Polytechnic campus or partner institute.
Part-time is delivered as a combination of on-campus and virtual classroom, a blend of both face-to-face and virtual learning with scheduled classes taking place on-campus and in virtual classrooms.

Fees displayed are effective for new applications received on or after 1st of November. Tuition fees do not include textbooks, course materials or overseas student health insurance and visa fees.
After initial deposit, international students are able to pay tuition fees in installments, four times per year.

The State Government’s Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative covers the cost of tuition (excluding Amenities Fees and Materials Fees) for students who are eligible for government subsidised training and enrol into one of the Priority listed course.
Free TAFE is available to eligible students for one course enrolment in a lifetime.

Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative covers the cost of tuition fees for students who are eligible. Materials and amenities may still apply.
The Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative will pay your tuition fees for only one course. Once you have commenced in a tuition-free priority course, you are not eligible for further tuition-free places again, even if you do not finish your first tuition-free priority course.

The Student Services and Amenities Fee is charged at forty cents (40 cents) per student contact hour and is capped over a twelve (12) month period, effective from the enrolment date, to:
Amenities fees are used to improve non-academic services including libraries, counselling services, student support, and recreational activities.
The course has units that require you to conduct site visits. Students who arrange their own site visits will need a white card.
