Course Outcomes

  • You will have your silver, brass, and bronze rings to take home
  • You will have gained the skills and knowledge of setting gemstones, identifying equipment required and preparation of setting tools.

A Certificate of Completion will be issued at the conclusion of the course.

You must attend the first 3 sessions. This is when you will create the tools to do the Gem Setting. If you miss out on the first 3 sessions, you will not be able to proceed with the course.

Transfers and Refunds

A refund or transfer is only possible if you apply at least 5 business days prior to the course commencing. A standard handling charge of 10% of the advertised course fee will be deducted from each refund. Requests for refunds or transfers made within five business days of the course start date will not be eligible.

Students who require a carer/Support Worker to accompany them in class are requested to notify Short Courses of this before they enrol into the course by contacting us on 9269 8615.

This is essential due to limitations on class size and space.

This requirement is compulsory, regardless of whether students are providing their own carer or requesting one from Melbourne Polytechnic.

Please note that additional paperwork may be necessary to approve your carer's access to campus facilities.

Requirements

  • Students must have prior fabrication skills and experience in the use of jewellery hand tools and/or equipment at the bench.
  • The skill level required is Cert lll, Advanced Diploma or relevant industry bench jewellery competence.
  • The first 3 sessions are mandatory. If students are absent during the first 3 sessions, they will not be able to proceed with the course.

Are you wanting to bring your Wax Working Jewellery ideas to life? Our Wax Working for Jewellery short course will teach participants a range of wax working skills whilst using wax carving, forming, shaping and joining techniques whilst also learning about the Lost Wax Casting process. This course is suitable for beginners and participants that have some knowledge.
