Bridget Naughton

Dr Bridget Naughton is the Acting Head of Program for the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing and Associate Degree of Veterinary Nursing.

Dr. Bridget Naughton is a dedicated educator and veterinary professional with a passion for supporting the next generation of veterinary nurses. Currently serving as the Head of Program for the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing at Melbourne Polytechnic, Dr. Naughton brings a wealth of practical experience and academic expertise to her role. She has over 17 years’ experience as a clinical veterinarian and over 9 years of teaching experience.

Dr Bridget Naughton is responsible for:

  • Leading the delivery of the Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing
  • The review and accreditation processes for TEQSA for the HE veterinary nursing program
  • Ensuring the continued quality and industry relevance of the curriculum
  • Coordinating efforts to meet professional accreditation standards
  • Leadership of academic staff in teaching and learning along with scholarship and research
  • Fostering professional and industry relationships, across Victoria, Australia and internationally
  • Supporting students learning with evidence-based learning and teaching approaches

Dr. Naughton has a Master of Science in Veterinary Education from the University of London. Her research interests lie in areas such as reflection and professional identity formation, with projects focusing on the experiences of veterinary nurses during clinical placements. Through her work, she emphasizes the significance of work-integrated learning in shaping the identity and competencies of veterinary nursing professionals.

With a dedication to both her students and the advancement of veterinary nursing as a whole, Dr. Bridget Naughton is committed to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment. Her enthusiasm for education and research makes her a valuable asset to both the academic community and the field of veterinary nursing.
